A natural path to healthy life !
Swami Maheshwaranan
Salutation to the Cosmic Light.
Lord, lead us from the unreality
to the reality
Lead us from the darkness to the
light
Lead us from the mortality to
the immortality
Let peace prevail in the whole
world
We know what is
going on in the
world. The
situation in the
world is very
critical. Can we
ourselves do something? How Yoga
can help in giving good governance
and prevent violence? And through
which way can the individual
contribute to world peace? It is
possible to do so by using and
practising the ancient wisdom, known
as YOGA.
Thanks to Prime Minister Narendra
Modiji's great work and merit, Yoga
now is known, valued and accepted
throughout the world. June 21 is
declared as International Day of Yoga,
with the unanimous vote and
approval of the United Nations. Each
year the IDY is celebrated with public

country in the world. Prime Minister

by his presence and active
participation in public Yoga
presentations and international
Yoga conferences in India and
abroad. Many thanks to the Prime
Minister for spreading light,
spirituality, peace, wisdom,
happiness and health through Yoga
around the world!
Many thousands of years ago, the
Rishis, wise men and seers of India,
achieved the highest knowledge and
oneness with the Supreme. They
revealed the science and
techniques of the Yoga-practice.
They taught us one of the most
ancient spiritual ways: the Sanatana
dharma, with deep insight into the
Divine, by observing the noble
ideals of ahimsa (non-violence),
tolerance and love for all living
beings.
Sanatana Dharma is the firm
fundament of Yoga. In this way it is
the answer to violence, aggression
and fighting which is spreading very
fast throughout the globe.
Yoga is a universal principle. It is
the principle which balances the entire universe. All stars, planets,
sun, moon, visible and invisible, all
elements are balanced in this
universe by some principle, and
that we may call Yoga. When
balance takes place, harmony
appears. When there is harmony,
then union or unity begins. Literally,
Yoga means union or unity,
oneness. Create harmony and
realise the oneness. Oneness of the
individual self with the cosmic self.
This is the final goal of Yoga.
International yoga day
Yoga plays an important part in
our lives – not only for Indians but
for everyone. Yoga means to join
the soul with the creator and seek
salvation through meditation and
physical application. Yoga is not a
religion, based on acceptance of
particular gods, dogmas,
revelations and religious structures.
It is based on the reverence of
dharma which is the rule of law and
the ethic of the age.
Despite colour, religion, caste
within castes and regions, India has
maintained its tolerance. Yoga and
Hindu religion upholds the virtues
of truth, love, compassion,
kindness, tolerance, self-discipline,
inquisitiveness and benevolence.
Yoga promotes a sense of loving
other human beings as much as you
love yourself.
Yoga spreads the message of
universal brotherhood. The concept
of the entire world as a single
family, Vasudeva kuthumbakam is
enshrined in India. India has the
most ancient and rich in culture,
traditions, philosophy and
concepts. It has endeavoured to
secure the well-being of humanity
and universal brotherhood. Yoga
philosophy expounds universal
welfare, development of divine
virtues and attainment of spiritual
success.
Yoga deals with the life of all
humans and creatures of this world
and also of the other worlds. The
objective of Yoga is to take the
humanity to the highest peak of
human development and achieve
the stage of supreme salvation that
is described as moksha (liberation

of the "wheel of life and death").
The reverence for life, which is the
essence of birth and death cycle and
the ability to see God in all things,
living and non-living, is the
uniqueness of Yoga philosophy. If we
will think and respect the trees to be
holy, we will not cut them and
destroy the forests. If we think that
all life is holy, all our problems would
not be here. But we have gone astray.
So we even don't respect the humans.
Practice of Yoga creates harmony
and balance in our life, in our family
and the surrounding. When we
become ill, there is an imbalance in
the body. When we have psychic or
emotional problems, there must be
some imbalance in our life. Yoga
provides us a very natural and
practical approach to a healthy and
successful life in harmony with the
nature and the environment. It offers
techniques for harmonizing body and
mind, purifying our consciousness,
and achieving atma gyana, selfrealization.
Yoga consists of four branches that
correspond to seekers' various
dispositions. Bhakti Yoga is the path
of love and devotion for those who
seek the Divine through worship and
prayer. Karma Yoga is the path of
action and service. Gyana Yoga is the
path of knowledge and wisdom
through philosophy and
discrimination between reality and
unreality. And Raja Yoga is the path of
self-discipline and self-mastery
through practice and meditation.
Since more than four decades, in
my lectures, seminars and annual
World Peace Tours, the system Yoga
in Daily Life has been popularized
world over and has been accepted in
Western countries as well where
people often feel a lack of sense in life
despite their high comfort and
standard of living.
Yoga teaches us to master
ourselves and our lives in every
situation and every sphere. In fact, it
is the perfect way to God. Yoga is not
a religion, nor a cult, nor any theory
or set of dogmas. Yoga is Reality. It is
the ultimate truth. Yoga is older than
our planet. It has been guiding the process of life since the very
beginning of the universe.
P.M. on Yoga Day
In the present time, when our
Earth stands on the edge of
destruction through us, the humans
themselves, people in the whole
world are looking out again for a
way to a natural life style, for peace
and harmony among all religions,
cultures and nationalities. And this
is the path that Yoga offers to the
world.
In order to maintain that spiritual
way of living and to get selfrealization,
it is advisable for all of
us to follow the way of Yoga. Yoga
should not be lived separately from
our daily lives. This is the very idea
of the System "Yoga in Daily Life": to
live twenty-four hours a day
according to the principles, rules
and regulations that were handed
over to us by the ancient Rishis.
These universal and divine
principles are: understand, forgive,
be tolerant, love, serve, believe,
worship, meditate and realize. Yoga
in Daily Life will surely lead you to
achieve the ultimate goal. That is, to
become one with God.
The work of all yogis is aimed to
achieve world peace. All should be
happy – sarve bhavantu sukhina. All
means not only our family, or town,
village or country, not only the
humans, not only Indians, but the
whole world and all creatures. What
a noble thought! Rishis said: The
whole world is the family of one

God. If this consciousness is
developed again in humans, definitely
there will be world peace.
Eventually, we have to start the
multi-culture and multi-religious
thinking. We have to bring together
all religious leaders. Do we want to
have a world in peace or to have a
world in pieces? If we continue to
fight among nations, cultures and
religions we will have a world in
pieces soon.
World Peace is possible only when
religious and political leaders practise
tolerance, recognition and respect for
other religions, cultures and nations.
Their prime duty is to awaken the
consciousness of forgiveness,
brotherhood and oneness, that we
are all children of the one God.There
is only one religion to which we all
belong – Humanity.This is my
message to create unity,
understanding and brotherhood
among people through Yoga and safe
