administrators
than Sunil Arora,

a few words and a patient
listener, he wears evey new
hat with dignity and grace. He
cares for people and they, in
return, respect him. A ‘doyen’
of a powerful Indian
Administrative Service (IAS)
lobby, he has been entrusted
with the responsibility of
heading the Lok Sabha
Election Commission saying ‘
Lok Sabha election work has
already begun’. The elections
will be held in May, 2019.
Arora announced his ability and skill when he was
chief of Indian Airlines. He tactfully brought cock-pit
and cabin crews on one wave-length. The airline
flourished during his tenure. He was fair and
meticulous to media, both English and Hindi. His
press conferences were meaningful and news worthy.
Arora annouced that elections would be ’free, fair and ethical’. The Parliamentary pole will
be held next year. He said: “We will ensure voting
rights for our soldiers and persons with disability.
We
have interest of share-holders”.
Besides Parliamentary polls, there will
be elections in Jammu and Kashmir,
Odisha, Maharashtra, Haryana,
Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal and
Sikkim. His tenure ends on April 12,
2021.
Behind him lies not only several
years of personal and constant
involvement but also a record of
service to different and divergent
divisions and departments. He is wellinformed
and sure-footed. He has
something to offer all the time. All
this gives a unique appeal to the
enormous number of people who
attend his briefings.
In the interview, Arora has gone record saying that
in the state elections, there were a few instances of
'indiscretions by poll officials.
“We will place our best foot forward to meet
the expectations of all the stake-holders”, he
emphasised, adding: “Our watch-word is
purview of constitution”.
